About Matt Minnis,
Wildlife photography, for me, has never just been about taking a photo—it’s about feeling something. Based in Wiltshire, I spend countless hours in forests, wetlands, coastlines, and quiet hidden places, learning behaviour, reading movement, and waiting for the moments most people walk straight past.
My work is built around connection—capturing the soul of wildlife through honest, intimate images that make people stop and feel something real. Through prints, storytelling, and time spent in the wild, my goal is simple: to help people reconnect with nature, slow down, and see the beauty that’s been there all along.

Photographs
Photography, for me, isn’t about collecting pictures—it’s about connection.
Every image comes from time, patience, and learning to be part of the environment rather than just passing through it. Whether it’s the stare of an owl, the stillness of a deer, or the split second a kingfisher breaks the surface, these photographs are about more than wildlife—they’re about feeling.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of wildlife do you photograph?
I focus mainly on UK wildlife, with a particular love for birds. Much of my work centres around everyday moments in nature — from familiar garden species to more elusive species found across the countryside. My aim is to capture character, emotion, and connection, not just a record shot.
Where are your photos taken?
All of my images are taken in the wild, across various locations in the UK. I spend a lot of time in the countryside, often returning to the same areas repeatedly to better understand the wildlife and their behaviour.
How do you approach wildlife photography?
My approach is simple — time, patience, and observation. I spend long periods outdoors, learning behaviour and waiting for natural moments to unfold. I’m far more interested in connection and storytelling than chasing constant action or perfection.
Do you use hides or natural cover?
Yes, I sometimes use natural cover or hides to remain unobtrusive and allow wildlife to behave naturally. This helps minimise disturbance and lets moments unfold as they would without human presence.
Can I buy your photos as prints?
Yes. A selection of my work is available as high-quality fine art prints, professionally produced and carefully packaged. Print sizes and options are listed on the shop page, and many prints are available signed.
Are your prints limited edition?
Some prints are released as limited editions, while others are open edition. Any limitations are clearly stated in the product description, including edition size where applicable.
Do you offer wildlife photography experiences or 1-to-1 days?
Yes. I offer 1-to-1 wildlife photography experience days for those who want to slow down, learn fieldcraft, and experience nature through photography — whether you’re a beginner or simply looking to reconnect with the outdoors.
Do I need expensive camera gear to get into wildlife photography?
Not at all. Wildlife photography is far more about patience, awareness, and understanding behaviour than having the latest equipment. Time spent outdoors will always matter more than gear.
Can I use your images or collaborate with you?
If you’re interested in image licensing, collaborations, or brand partnerships, feel free to get in touch via the contact page. I only work with people and brands that align with my values and connection to nature.
What inspires the calm, emotional feel of your work?
Nature has always been a place of peace, grounding, and clarity for me. My photography is about slowing down, noticing the small moments, and sharing the sense of calm that time outdoors can bring.
